An international-standard swimming pool complex is going to be constructed at Savar Golf Club on the outskirts of the capital.
An agreement to this effect was signed between Bangladesh Army and Bashundhara Group, country’s largest business conglomerate, at the golf club on Friday.
According to the agreement, Bashundhara Group (BG) will finance the construction of the swimming complex.
Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Major-General Chowdhury Hasan Suhrawardy, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 9 Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army, graced the occasion.
Brigadier-General Mohammad Siddiqul Alam Sikder (ndc, psc), Vice-President (Admin and Finance) of Savar Golf Club, on behalf of the club and Lt Col (retd) Khandaker Abdul Wahed, Advisor (PR) and Head of AHR of
BG, on behalf of BG, signed the agreement in the hall room of Savar Golf Club.
After the signing ceremony, the Bashundhara Group Chairman and the GOC of 9 Infantry Division unveiled the plaque of the foundation stone of the swimming pool.
Architect Monjur Kader, who designed the proposed swimming complex, presented various aspects of the pool through power-point and animated presentation.
He said the first musical water- ballet facilities of the country will be available in this swimming-pool complex. Besides, water therapy will also be available alongside swimming learning.
“Presidential and single suites will be built for the members and sponsors of the pool,” he said.
The architect also mentioned that the construction work of the pool will be completed within 1.9 years which is half of any normal construction work.
Mohammad Abu Tayeb, Adviser (Press and Media) of BG, Amir Hossain, Editor of daily sun, a major national daily, Engineer Aman Ullah, Senior Executive Director (Const) of East West Property Development (EWPD), Engineer Helal Uddin, Executive Director (Const) of EWPD, Mohammad Saiful Islam Helaly, Chief Marketing Promotion Officer of Bashundhara Cement, and M M Jasim Uddin, Head of Branding and Marketing of Bashundhara Industrial Unit of BG were among others present at the signing ceremony.
