Bashundhara starts marketing new brand of cement soon

Ami Shankar Ain receives a cheque for Tk 5 lakh for the best design of Bashundhara Cement Bag from Md Belayet Hossain, senior deputy managing director of Bashundhara Group. Among others, Media Adviser to BG Abu Tayub was present at the event at Public Works Bhaban on Monday.

Bashundhara Group is all set to go marketing another brand of cement styled ‘Bashundhara Cement’ soon as the business conglomerate has almost finalised all necessary preparations, it was announced at a function Monday. Senior Deputy Managing Director Muhammad Belayet Hossain made the announcement at the programme organized to award the best designer of Bashundhara Cement Bag at the auditorium of Public Works Department in the capital. Media adviser of East West Media Group Mohammad Abu Tayeb, Chief Marketing Officer Saiful Islam Helali and cement-sector DGM Kingso Hosain were among others present. For widespread marketing of the new brand of cement, the Bashundhara Group organised a campaign programme ‘give a design of a bag of Bashundhara Cement and win Tk 5 lakh’ on December 12, 2011. Designer Ami Shankar Ain won the first prize and received a cheque for 5 lakh and a crest at the programme. DMD Belayet Hossain handed over the cheque. Speaking as the chief guest, Belayet Hossain said BG is going to produce another brand of cement as the demand for the construction material is rising remarkably amid construction boom. Currently BG is producing the King Brand Cement.

He also said, “Bashundhara has earned market reputation by producing quality products at an affordable price and all business ventures of the BG have turned into market leaders for ensuring quality of their products. So the popularity of Bashundhara Group is increasing along with demands for its products.”

Media Adviser Abu Tayeb said Bashundhara Group would turn into the largest cement-producing group in the country when Bashundhara cement will start production and its marketing.

Saiful Islam Helali said BG organised the campaign programme to encourage the creative works of designers and also to make people aware of the new-brand cement, which will hit the market very soon.

He also informed that 1112 designers had participated in the open competition to select the best one for the new brand of cement. Of them, 20 designers were primarily selected for trying their best to bag the top prize.

The top 20 designers are: Abul Kalam Azad, Animesh Sharma, Farid Ahmed, Labib Hossain, Mahbubur Rahman, Mazharul Hasan, Reza Chowdhury, Tanvir Hossain, Bappi, Sanbir Hossain, Zahirul Islam, Rabi Sankar, Shumon Chowdhury, Abed Hossain, Julian Crisben, Rana Kaisar, Rajibul Islam, Zakir Hossain, Shubas Chandra and Kurban Ali.

Eventually Abul Kalam Azad becomes second-best designer from the top 20 and Subrato Biswas Bappi third.

Belayet Hossain handed over certificates and Abu Tayeb distributed the crest to the top 20 designers.
