The three-day swimming contest concluded with BKSP’s dominance in the medals tally as they claimed 58 golds, 44 silvers and 29 bronze medals out of 100 events.

Bangladesh Ansar became runners-up in the competition capturing 15 golds, 19 silver and 15 bronze medals.

Individually, Ariful Islam of BKSP made superiority in the gold medals tally bagging 13 gold medals in total while another BKSP’s contestant Jahidul Islam and Titu Mia bagged 11 golds each. Lalon Shah Swimming Club’s Nayan Ali captured 6 gold medals.

In girls’ section, Mariam Khatun of Sagarkhali Swimming Club was the highest gold medal winner capturing 8 gold medals along with setting two new national records whereas Rashida Khatun clinched 6 gold medals. Munshiganj District Swimming Club achieved the “fair-play” award.

The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners in the prize giving ceremony.

After achieving the prize, the golden boy BKSP’s Ariful Islam expressed his reaction, “I’m not satisfied with my performance despite my capturing 13 gold medals as I could not create any national record. In last edition (15-17 age groups) I captured 10 gold medals breaking 7 national records.”

About 500 swimmers from 28 district sports councils, 32 swimming clubs, 60 teams from BKSP and Ansar Club took part in this tourney. The age groups were divided into under 10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 and 18-20. Both boys and girls participated in 100 swimming events and three diving events. Due to lack of diving spring board in Mirpur Swimming Complex, the events were held at BKSP diving pool.
